Dyeing for Spring to arrive
Today I dyed a collection of vintage garments, laces and trims that I'll be using in my Spring 2010 line. I had decided on a combination of salmon and coral as the accent color. I had a couple packages each of Tangerine and Fuschia so decided to experiment. One of each was just too pink, so I added another package of tangerine to orange it up. Voila! Exactly what I was hoping for.
The variance in the color is due to the differences in the fabric. The darkest camisole was already a peach color, and the lightest (with all the holes) was a kind of yellowy brown.

Love these colors. What type of dyes do you use on all those different fabrics and textures?
ReplyDeleteThank you. This time I used Rit but I've also used Proscion from Dharma Trading.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. I work with silk and I find the Procion is a little unstable with the color. I currently am trying a vinegar/acid bath.
