I've wanted to make these for a long time and I've finally started. My collection of travel souvenir scarves have been neatly folded in a drawer for several years and today I took them out and began planning my curtain project. I say planning in a very loose sense because I've always been a "design as I go" kind of person. I have an idea in my head and we'll see whether I'll be able to make it work.
The guest room decor is Mexican inspired and filled with lots of treasures I've found on my trips to Mexico, and while exploring thrift stores and flea markets. The prior owners of our house installed formal drapes...and they're definitely not my style. I don't know much about window treatments but I do know what I don't like. So here is the official "before" picture.
Oh! I can't wait to see how this turns out.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathleen! It'll be interesting, that's for sure. Silk and rayon is a little slippery on the sewing machine but I hope to make it work.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely in love with your project. Coming to you via a tumblr post to flickr to here. How nice to have found these vintage travel scarves. Best to you, Gracie
ReplyDeleteHi and thanks! I appreciate your kind words and thanks, also, for letting me know how you arrived. I always find that so interesting.
